Dr. Oommen David Conferred Adarsh Shikshak Puraskar 2026 Eminent educationist and Founder-Principal of Holy Angels School, Dr. Oommen David, has been honoured with the Adarsh Shikshak Puraskar 2026 (Ideal Teacher Award) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of education and institution building. The award, instituted by prominent Marathi newspaper Pudhari, was presented by Maharashtra Minister of Cultural Affairs Ashish Shelar at a grand function held at Thane. MLC of Konkan Region Niranjan Doukhare and MLA Sanjay Kelkar were also present at the occasion.
Over the past five decades, Dr. David has emerged as one of Dombivli’s most respected educators, transforming Holy Angels School into one of the region’s leading educational institutions. Established in 1990 at P&T Colony, Dombivli East, the institution has grown from a school into a comprehensive educational campus offering education from pre-primary to degree level under the Trinity Education Trust.

Spread across a green campus, Holy Angels School is equipped with spacious classrooms, modern science laboratories, a digitized library, computer laboratories with internet connectivity, and dedicated sports facilities. The institution has consistently maintained a 100 per cent pass rate in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for the past 20 years, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence.
The institution also places strong emphasis on holistic development, encouraging students to participate in sports, arts, cultural activities and drama under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors.
Recognising the growing educational needs of Dombivli, Dr. David expanded the institution by establishing Holy Angels Junior College and later Dr. David’s College of Higher Education. The expansion has enabled students to pursue quality higher education closer to home, reducing the need to travel to Mumbai city for degree courses.

Today, the college offers programmes in Science and Commerce, including B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Information Technology, B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, B.Com. Accounting & Finance (BAF), B.Com. Banking & Insurance (BBI), and B.Com. Financial Technology (FinTech). Additional courses are expected to be introduced during the 2026–27 academic year, subject to government and university approvals.

Dr. David has also served several educational and social organisations and has received numerous national and international honours during his distinguished career. Supporting him in the institution’s growth is Trustee Leela Oommen, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the education sector.
The Ideal Teacher Award 2026 recognises Dr. David’s lifelong dedication to quality education, value-based learning, and his significant contribution to expanding educational opportunities for students in Dombivli and neighbouring areas.
