World Malayali Federation conducts Cricket Premier

The World Malayali Federation (Maharashtra) successfully concluded Season 1 of the Malayali Premier League with a thrilling final, where Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam emerged as champions, while Nava Kerala Blasters finished as runners-up.

Maharashtra Minister Shri Pratap Sarnaik and MLA Shri Rajesh More, along with Maharashtra State Council Patron Dr. Oommen David, President Dr. Roy John Mathew, and Secretary Dominic Paul.

Komban Kings also became part of the historical moment by finishing third. 16 Malayali teams from different parts of the state competed in this tournament.

Although both teams delivered strong performances, Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam’s composure at key moments proved decisive, securing them the title, said Dr. Oommen David, noted educationist and Patron of the World Malayali Federation Maharashtra State Council.

The first-place winners received ₹50,000 and a trophy, the second-place team was awarded ₹25,000 and a trophy, and the third-place team received ₹15,000 along with a trophy. Certificates were also presented to the winners in addition to the prizes.

The tournament was inaugurated by MLA Rajesh More, with Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik attending as the chief guest, energizing the players. National cricket champion Sudhish Nair graced the occasion as the special guest.

The World Malayali Federation Maharashtra State Council President Dr Roy John Mathew, Secretary Dominic Paul and Bijoy Oommen led the way. The Sports Committee was headed by Antony Philip, Biju Rajan, Savio, Aarosh Thomas, Shivaram, Unnikrishna Kurup, Premlal, Deepthi, Ramesh Vasu, Divya, and Renny Philipose and Varghese Philip.

The tournament, held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., showcased the unity and sportsmanship of Malayalis and turned into a vibrant celebration for the community in Maharashtra. The cricket festival served as a platform that brought together sporting enthusiasm and community spirit, said Dr. David.

The organization brought together Malayali athletes by awarding medals and certificates to all participating team members. The prizes were distributed by Paul Parappilly, a noted educationist, along with global office bearers of the organization. Kerala Samajam President E.P. Vasu, Chairman Varghese Daniel, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
